PENSAMIENTOS SUBORDINADOS:
An I-pad is
an extraordinary device; however,
it is not affordable for me at the moment. Although I think it will be one of the first things
I will buy when I start to work. I can use an I-pad to complete exercises while
I travel by bus, whereas
I can’t use my I-pad to complete exercise while I’m driving. When I will have sons I will give
them my Ipad so that they
can use it and learn with it. An I-pad is good for children not only because it is easy
to use but also because
is highly-interactive and sturdy.

4º ESO: hospitals
Read this interview, look for the words you don't know and prepare for tomorrow's questions:
INTERVIEWER
|
Our guest tonight is Lewis Smith,
an interior designer who works at St. James’ hospital. So Lewis, why are
hospitals such depressing places?
|
|
LEWIS
|
Well,
basically it’s because there’s no decoration. Hospitals are functional
buildings so there’s nothing attractive or special in them. Every hospital in
every town has green walls, ugly plastic floors, and very few paintings or
ornaments. It’s not surpising people get depressed there, is it?
|
|
INTERVIEWER
|
No, no, it isn’t. So what can we
do to make hospitals nicer places?
|
|
LEWIS
|
First of
all we should remember that hospitals are used by people- patients. And
people feel better if they are in pleasant, colourful rooms.
|
|
INTERVIEWER
|
That’s true
|
|
LEWIS
|
So,
hospitals should have paintings on the wall, nothing weird or shocking
though, soft, gentle colours which are relaxing and pleasant to look at and
curtains. Curtains make a room look brighter and more like home
|
|
INTERVIEWER
|
And what about flowers? They’re
important too, aren’t they?
|
|
LEWIS
|
Oh yes,
flowers always make us feel happy. That’s why we often give them to people
who are in hospital. They look lovely and also they smell great. This is very
important in hospitals where often there are a lot of offensive smells
|
|
INTERVIEWER
|
Yes, there are, aren’t there?
Well, thank you Lewis, that was very interesting.
|
|
LEWIS
|
Thank you

Crisis
Unemployment
Bailout
Money
Jobs
Banks
Eviction (evict: echan de casa y tiene que seguir pagando la
casa)
Crisis is a
period of time when there is a rise in unemployment because the financial
system doesn’t work. It is a period when there are a lot of unemployed people
and a lot of people can´t pay even their houses.
Who is to
blame?
I think
politicians are responsible of this crisis because they are the only one who
can make decisions with the public money. Also, the lack of values of the
society has made this crisis grow and grow.
Banks are
also responsible because they give mortgages to people who can’t pay them.
Do you
think we will find a solution?
The
solution is difficult to find but with time there will find it
How is this
crisis affecting you and your environment?
There are
more unemployed people, even people who had not never been unemployed.

WHY DO PEOPLE BUY BRANDS?
BECASUSE
PEOPLE NEED TO BUY PRODUCTS THAT THE BRAND OFFER
IN ADDITION
TO THIS, BRANDS OFFER REALIABE PRODUCTS
PEOPLE
TRUST BRANDS
PEOPLE SHOW
THEIR SOCIAL STATUS
BRANDS
SHOWS SOCIAL STATUS
BRANDS
ALLOWS YOU TO IDENTIFY AS A MEMBER OF A SOCIAL GROUP
BRANDS MAKE
ADVERTISEMENTS THAT CONVICE US TO BUY THEM
BRANDS CAN
BE SYNONYM OF QUALITY
Why do you think some people dislike brands?
-
BECAUSE THEY THINK THAT THEY WOULD BE
A MEMBER OF A GROUP
-
BECAUSE
BRAND PRODUCTS ARE MORE EXPENSIVE AND TOP OF THE RANGE
-
BECAUSE
SOME PEOPLE HAVE HAD BAD EXPERIENCES WITH A BRAND
-
BRANDS
DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN VALUE FOR MONEY AND YOU CAN FIND PRODUCTS WITH SIMILAR
CHARACTERISTICS WITH A CHEAPER PRIZE. A BETTER VALUE FOR MONEY
Marca blanca = generic brand
3. How loyal are you to the brands you have
chosen?
It depends
on the product. I buy Coca-cola becase I don’t like other brands
Whenever I
buy clothes, I go to Zara, Strav… (Inditex group)
You always
buy Delta brands because the is the coffee that I like most
I’m not loyal
to any brand. I buy the cheapest
Although
generic brands are cheaper and may offer good quality, is it not always fair to
just copy a product of another brand.
