An I-pad is an extraordinary device; however, it is not affordable for me at the moment. Although I think it will be one of the first things I will buy when I start to work. LEWIS	Well, basically it’s because there’s no decoration. Hospitals are functional buildings so there’s nothing attractive or special in them. Every hospital in every town has green walls, ugly plastic floors, and very few paintings or ornaments. It’s not surpising people get depressed there, is it?
INTERVIEWER	No, no, it isn’t. So what can we do to make hospitals nicer places?
LEWIS	First of all we should remember that hospitals are used by people- patients. And people feel better if they are in pleasant, colourful rooms.
INTERVIEWER	That’s true
LEWIS	So, hospitals should have paintings on the wall, nothing weird or shocking though, soft, gentle colours which are relaxing and pleasant to look at and curtains. Curtains make a room look brighter and more like home
INTERVIEWER	And what about flowers? They’re important too, aren’t they?
LEWIS	Oh yes, flowers always make us feel happy. That’s why we often give them to people who are in hospital. They look lovely and also they smell great. This is very important in hospitals where often there are a lot of offensive smells
INTERVIEWER	Yes, there are, aren’t there? Well, thank you Lewis, that was very interesting.
